I landed in Shanghai on April 9, 2004 at 3:30 PM (China time which is 15 hours ahead of PST or Kelowna time]. I was to be received by Dr. Raya Fransila, Principal of Jiangdu BC Curriculum School. Raya, and an interpreter, arrived at the airport at 4:00 but the Shanghai Airport is very large and it was very crowded at the time of my arrival. We found each other at about 5:00!

I was a freedom fighter for six years, from 1941 to 1947, the year India became Independent of the British Rule.

For the first four years after Independence, I was in politics. I remained completely aloof from politics for the next forty five years.

I discovered and adopted a new goal, to transform Independent India into a prosperous and well governed India by promoting education in rural India. I pursued that goal until 1991.
